To play the snare drum, you must know & understand the snare drum. This is the introduction to snare drum! We are going to learn the different snare drum styles, parts of the snare drum, how the snare drum works, and about mutes and practice pads.
Drum Sticks & Grips! First thing we are going to be looking at is the different snare drum sticks - marching sticks, concert sticks, & drum set sticks. Now, how do you hold the drum sticks? How you hold the drum sticks is called a grip. Proper hand placement & body posture is very important when playing the drums, so you'll want to watch how to hold (grip) your drum sticks carefully. And lastly, we are going to do a few exercises to get us practicing and used to holding the sticks, getting proper movement, and getting the feel for beats.
Drum teacher, Brandon is going to teach how to read drum set sheet music. The sheet music used for drums is a little different than reading it for other instruments. What does the x note mean? How do you know which drum to hit when reading music? We'll soon find out!
