Now keep in mind, it's a little more complex if you're looking at sheet music, but you want to look at the melody line. The melody line tells you everything you need to know when determining if a song is major or minor.

Today, we dive into the Rubank Intermediate Method for flute page 17, Major and Minor Keys in Thirds. It might get a bit tricky, especially in the higher registers, but we'll tackle it together. We'll explore high G, G sharp, A, and B. Take your time and use ear protection for those high notes.

These rhythms get a little tricky between the eighth sixteenth combos and then the sixteenth eighth combos. Reesa does have a few tricks to getting these sorted out, such as using words instead of counts.

Aside from working on the challenges, this is an important one to come back to, as the pattern of thirds, whether major or minor, is used a lot in music. The really high registers are also a big challenge! So we simplified it in this lesson. When you practice on your own, take your time, break it down, and gradually speed it up and put the piece together as a whole.

In this lesson, we're going to be looking at the E Flat Major Studies from the Rubank Intermediate Method For Flute. The good news is the E flat major key signature isn't too challenging. Some of the tricky areas will be certain transitions, articulations, and intervals in the higher register - particularly from high E Flat to G.
